Nowadays, Santiago de Compostela has a total number of 11 Easter brotherhoods to celebrate Easter.
Some of them were well known and documented in the 16th century, information which was provided by their foundation. Thus, other ones give evidence of their relevance and roots to our Easter, being founded around the years 2005, and 2008, respectively.
With a total number of 14 processions, the commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ takes place in a stage with a unique splendour and an unquestionable solemnity. A landscape full of Stone balconies and galleries throughout the sun is always looking for a corner to light up the narrow streets of the city. An scenery that completely changes in the evening at the moment when the processions, with their penitential character leave their Sees. This fact totally changes to give way to the yellow light reflected on the wet stones which is being stepped by the religious followers.
